Top 10 Albums of 2007
Ok, all of the other music lists are out of the way and it's time for the big one, in my eyes at least. Top 10 Albums of 2007.
10. Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare : An impressive, slightly dreary follow-up to their superb debut album, the Arctic Monkeys second release is a rich listen.
9. Bloc Party - A Weekend in the City : Speaking of British bands and their second albums, Bloc Party's Weekend came out early in the year and dominated my ipod a good chunk of that time.
8. Kanye West - Graduation : Yeah, he probably boasts too much but damn he's fantastic, even if Abby has lost her love for him. The hooks are to die for from start to finish.
7. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga : I may be late to the Spoon party but I'm enjoying it no less. Ten impressive tracks that are perfect for sunny days outside, or so it seems in my life.
6. Radiohead - In Rainbows : The best band on the planet is back and still fucking rules.
5. MIA - Kala : So dense and so good. That's the best way to describe MIA's Kala, track after track of layered, instant classics.
4. Mika - Life in Cartoon Motion : The tastiest, sweetest pop music to come out in some time. From April to June, this album must have been on a continuous loop in my head. Driving around D.C. and Silver Spring jump to mind when I listen to it.
3. Feist - The Reminder : An album that sunk it's talons to me from the first seconds and never letting go, Feist's latest shows an artist with an impressive, heartfelt range.
2. Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova : Once : The soundtrack for one of the year's best picture's is a memorized, constantly sung and thoroughly loved work. Romantic in every sense, tender, heartbroken and triumphant.
1. St. Vincent - Marry Me : The disc that defines my move. I first listened to it the weekend I prepared to move and fell for it wandering the streets of Seattle, riding the bus and taking in the new sights. St. Vincent's solo album has a scattershot of rhythms and instruments that collide into glorious songs.
